Winter Racing Colour Trends 2026
Winter racing is underrated. While Spring Racing Carnival and Autumn Racing Carnival are undeniably popular, we say winter racing is just as special. Celebrating with friends and the rush of excitement complement the cold very well.
The fashions are amazing too, of course! There’s something about dressing up in layers and enjoying warmer textures.
If you want to enjoy this experience in full, read on to know where to go — and how to dress up just right.

Aside from these big events, Sydney and Victoria also have select races for the season.

Brown
While brown is more popular during autumn, it’s incredibly apt for winter too. With the right materials and textures, it will be a great base for your outfits. Think: leopard prints, velvet, faux fur. You can even try a tonal brown look from head to toe. Regard brown as black’s warmer sibling and you’re off to a great style start.

Fuchsia

Winter brights should be the thing you try this year (if you haven’t yet). There’s nothing quite like using style — the bold version — as an antidote to the cold. There’s something about fuchsia that just brightens up not just your look but also your mood. It has a regal feeling to it, too. If you’re not at ease about wearing a big fuchsia piece like a dress or a top, using the colour as an accent would be just as good.

Red
Still in the realm of brights, and perhaps the boldest of them: red. It can be an intimidating colour to wear, but once you allow it to help you feel confident, it’s going to be life-changing. Red is the colour of power — embrace it. This is your chance to stand out, and there’s no other colour to help you do that than red. If you want to take baby steps, using the colour in your headwear is the easy way to go.

Cloud Dancer

Winter whites? Yes, they’re still a thing. They will forever be a thing, if we’re being honest. But don’t keep ivory and bright white as your only options. Opt for this year’s Pantone colour of the year, Cloud Dancer. Sure, it’s not a popular choice because it’s basic but this time it works. It’s great as a base for any and all outfits you’ll wear during the season. Or if you’re more into blacks and greys, a touch of white is great for breaking monotony.

Green
It’s something you associate with summer or spring, for sure. The beauty in fashion is that there are rules, but no one will hate you for breaking them (unless it’s something deeply offensive, of course). You have the option to go full-on brights for winter or choose hues that are more subdued. Consider gem and stone colours such as emerald and jade.
