TIP #1: COURAGE TO HAVE FUN!

So, what’s the first tip to rocking your 2022 spring racing fashion look, you ask? Close your eyes, take a deep breath and picture what makes you feel fabulous - no matter how wild it might be! "Covid starved us of dressing up, so this Spring Carnival is about making the most of it and having some serious fashion FUN!", says Donny Galella. More than ever, now is the time to go large, throw caution to the wind and wear what you LOVE - wear what brings you JOY! We've all learned that we never know what tomorrow will bring, so today - we dance! 💃🏼 What does this mean in terms of millinery? Nothing subtle, that's for sure... Bright colours, bold silhouettes, playful embellishments like flowers and sequins, big hats and really anything that screams 'I'm here to play - I'm here to party!' Which is the perfect segue for the 2nd of the Spring Racing style tips...

TIP #2: BARBIECORE & DOPAMINE DRESSING

Come on Barbie, let's go party! Making the rounds on every social media feed, it’s #barbiecore (sans a platinum blonde Ryan Reynolds - we can dream!). It’s fun like CYNDI, bright like RACHEL and bold like JUDE, which is why it’s one of the top 2022 millinery trends and one of Donny's top Spring Racing style tips for 2022. But does this mean we all have to dress head to toe in pink? It's definitely a vibe (seen below on Anna Heinrich in our pink "JUDE" headpiece), but the playful palette doesn't stop there... "Dopamine dressing (which is related), is also a huge trend for Spring 2022. Colours such as cobalt blue, aqua, orange, lime, green and pink of course." says Donny Galella.

TIP #3: SHOP MILLINERY BEFORE THE OUTFIT

If you feel daunted when it's time to buy fascinators or find the perfect millinery to match a specific outfit, you may want to consider reshuffling the order in which you style your Spring Racing outfit for 2022. "Sometimes when I see an amazing piece of millinery, I will start with that and then create an entire outfit inspired by the millinery", says Donny. "We do not get many opportunities to wear headwear, to go all out glam. The races is the perfect opportunity to go all out. And there is a piece of millinery or headwear that suits everyone. I’ve had women say to me 'I don’t wear millinery because it will draw attention to me' or 'I don’t want to stand out', which is actually crazy! Because when you're at the races, you actually stand out more when you don’t wear any thing on your head." We couldn't agree more, Donny! You may feel silly at first, but chances are you look DAMN FABULOUS, and the feeling of fabulousness will surely follow.
