How to know your face shape

There are five common face shapes: oval, square, round, heart, and diamond. They are distinguished by their distinct features. In some cases, they’re pretty easy to tell by just looking at one’s face. But if you want to be certain (and a bit technical), you may also measure different areas of your face.

Take out your tape measure and a notebook and pen to jot down your measurements. Here we go!

Start with your face length from top to bottom. Measure from the top of your forehead to the lowest part of your chin.

Then, measure your forehead width. You got it — from hairline to hairline on the sides of your face. Once you’re done with that, go ahead and locate the highest part of your cheekbone and measure the space between your left and right cheeks.

Finish it off by finding out your jawline width. Measure from the end of your ear till the centre of your chin. Multiply the number you get by two.

Now that you have your numbers, you’ll find it easier to determine your face shape based on their ratio and distinct visual cues.

High and strong cheekbones. The distance between cheekbones is slightly wider than forehead length. Chin is narrow and pointed. If you ticked all these boxes, you have a diamond face shape!
